Meet your Newborn Photographer

Hello, friend! I’m Kaitlyn, a people-loving nerd of a soul, Christ-follower, and girl mama of 3.

I’ve been documenting tender transitions (birth, pregnancy, and postpartum aka you and your newborn) since 2018, and since certified as both a birth photographer and doula, trained in supporting pregnancy and infant loss (bereavement photography is frequently donated to loss families here), and now offer full videography and artwork planning and design services to every KMP family.

Colorado families come to me to honor their most vulnerable and transformative seasons. Embracing the emotions (all the “feels”) is important here, and I strive to make this space emotionally safe for every family I serve (and those I don’t).

KIND WORDS

I love myself more after every session with Kaitlyn because of how hard she loves me.

An intimate postpartum breastfeeding portrait; mom is sitting on a soft linen bed, wearing nude underwear and looks directly at the camera as her baby feeds at her breast. She is confident and brimming with self-love.

What KMP Clients are Saying

Ashley

In-Home Rainbow Newborn Client

Our rainbow baby’s film brought me to tears…

… and the photos are absolutely gorgeous. She brought a beautiful wardrobe for the whole family to wear, and we felt so comfortable in her presence. We are so very thankful to have met her and we would undoubtedly recommend her to anyone.”

Katherine

In-Home Newborn Client

Kaitlyn came and instantly made us all feel at ease.

I felt like we were experiencing beautiful family time adoring our newborn rather than an awkward photo shoot. She was amazing with our 3-year-old and captured the sweetest moments of him with our newborn. I’m so pleased with the photos, film, and the experience!”

Lauren

Studio Newborn Client

“Kaitlyn’s heirloom products are truly amazing…

… unlike any others I have seen. She makes it easy to have a great experience start to finish by providing all the services you would ever need. I love her emphasis on birth and motherhood, and her experience as a doula makes her highly attuned to capturing those sacred moments of being a mom. Would highly recommend working with her!”

The Process

01.

Reserve and Plan for your Newborn Session

Kept simple and thoughtful

Newborn sessions are scheduled approximately 2-3 weeks after your expected due date or scheduled delivery date, and reserved with your session fee and signed contract.

Your session fee also includes:

  • Access to the Client Wardrobe: flexible, flattering clothing that fits your changing postpartum body and coordinating clothing for your whole family (taking both what-to-wear planning and post-session laundry off your plate)
  • Thoughtful session planning: so your images are more than just beautiful, they’re meaningful
  • Luxurious and emotionally-safe support every step of the way

02.

Your newborn session

In the comforts of your home or at the downtown studio

Your job is to simply be profoundly present and deeply experience the tender and fleeting moments we create together. I’ve got the rest, promise.

Photo and video documentation

Time for both more traditional and intimate postpartum portraits

03.

Select your meaningful art

so you remember, honor, and celebrate this beloved little one – on a daily basis, for years to come

Viewing sessions take place in the comforts of your home, where you’ll view your finished gallery and film (video), and select what art will make it into your personally curated collection. Because when you’re honoring something this important, your art should be more than just beautiful and high quality, it should be meaningful.

Heirloom albums, wall art, heirloom films, and keepsake boxes (included with your full gallery) are each thoughtfully planned and custom-designed for you and your home.

FAQ’s for Newborn Photography

As a business that serves pregnant and postpartum parents, we pride ourselves on carrying flexible and adaptive pieces with inclusive sizing (currently XS-3XL dresses, as well as men’s shirts), and comfortable, kid-friendly clothing for your littles (NB- size 8). We’re always adding pieces, so check in at your wardrobe consult for the latest!

We currently use two studio locations: one in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs, and the other for Denver families in Centennial (not far from Park Meadows Mall).

I recommend reserving your newborn session on my calendar by your second trimester to ensure availability. Newborn sessions are scheduled for the morning approximately 10 days after your estimated due date or scheduled delivery date (always with the flexibility to reschedule as needed). In general, newborn sessions are recommended to be scheduled in the first few weeks postpartum, though comfortably done up to 6-8 weeks postpartum.

There isn’t a “right” answer to this question. Most families choose to have me come to their home for their newborn session – it eliminates travel with a newborn freshly postpartum, and adds the extra layer of meaning and comfort to your session. Studio sessions are typically a good fit if your home has insufficient light, your house doesn’t feel like home, or having visitors in your home is a source of a lot of anxiety for you. We’ll talk through and decide the best route for you at our consult!

Newborn sessions typically take around 2-3 hours, depending on our vision and how everyone is feeling the day of your session. We guide our sessions by our vision and goals, not by time limits – so sometimes, we’ll take extra time to give a fussy babe space to be fed and comforted, and sometimes we’ll be done sooner than anticipated.

Fresh 48 sessions are documented within the first 48 hours of your babes’ life at their place of birth (hospital, birth center if we can time it right, or at home). They are currently offered exclusively to KMP Members and birth clients with the occasional opening released to my email subscribers. Reach out below if you’d like to be added to my list!

Absolutely! We hope you’ll involve and embrace your whole family (angel babes included, if applicable) as we celebrate and honor your transitions through pregnancy and postpartum during our sessions together.

If you value documenting both your pregnancy and postpartum, I highly recommend joining the KMP Membership! It includes up to 4 sessions that can be used over 18 months, exclusive birth options for those wanting birth photography, videography and/or doula support, product credit, gifts and more.
